Watching movies is not only for entertainment, it can also be a form of therapy. Apart from the obvious — escaping our own lives and problems for a short time — there are many documented benefits to watching movies. It can make you laugh, cry, suffer, and even find the strength you need to face your problems.

In fact, it even has a name: cinema therapy. Cinematherapy allows us to use the effect of imagery, plot, music, etc. in films on our psyche for insight, inspiration, emotional release or relief, and natural change. Being aware that movies can change the way we think, feel, and ultimately deal with life’s ups and downs can make watching them invaluable.

Do you love watching movies? Our team members do. Today, we’re going to share with you our all-time favourite movies.

Belinda’s Favourite Movie - The Lion King

Released in 1994, The Lion King is probably one of the most epic animated movies made by Disney and was the first Disney animated feature to be an original story.

The movie tells the story of Simba, a lion cub who is to succeed his father, Mufasa, as King of the Pride Lands. After the killing of his father by his paternal uncle, the young lion has to undergo a lot of challenges in the search for his destiny as king and in understanding the ’Great Circle of Life’, which connects all living things.

The Lion King teaches us that we can overcome any challenge life throws our way if we don’t let worries overwhelm us. Another valuable lesson offered by the movie is that power can be blinding.

Besides its story plot, this movie has brought us many powerful quotes and amazing original soundtracks.

Samikha’s Favourite Movie - Fast and Furious

Released in 2001, the Fast and the Furious starred Vin Diesel as a street car racer and Paul Walker as a cop. The movie grossed more than $200 million in the U.S., and has started a phenomenon that so far has no sign of slowing down.

Many people love it for its amazing cars and the broad group of characters. However, despite the fast cars, fights, stunts and special effects, people might not come back for more if they didn’t have some sort of connection to one or more Fast and Furious characters. The writers have done a great job of character development over the course of the movie installments.

Louis’ Favourite Movie - Iron Man 1

As a Marvel’s fans, Louis likes all Marvel’s movies. But when asked about his favourite, the answer will always be Iron Man 1.

No doubt that the 2008's Iron Man is the film that kicked off the entire MCU journey. The film tells the story of Tony Stark's evolution from self-obsessed billionaire to one of Earth's mightiest heroes.

If you like Avengers but  haven’t watched this movie, you should watch it because it is the first adventure of all.

Shu Lee’s Favourite Movie - Amelie

Amelie (also known as The Fabulous Destiny of Amélie Poulain) is a French-German 2001 romantic comedy film that tells the story of a shy waitress who decides to change the lives of those around her for the better while struggling with her own isolation.

It is a refreshing and inspiring movie to watch because of its uniqueness. Amelie is played by the beautifully fresh-faced Audrey Tautou, she’s a young woman who discretely orchestrates the lives of the people around her, sorting out their sad little problems.

From the visually stunning opening to the enchanting closing scenes, Amélie is something special — you leave with part of the love, happiness and light-heartedness infused in it.
