Encourage Young People To Be More Confident

  October 20, 2021

One of the main purposes that we are growing ZOM-IN is to connect and inspire today’s youth for tomorrow’s success, which makes the celebration of National Youth Confidence Day on October 20 very significant to us.

National Youth Confidence Day celebrates the energy, spirit, and potential of young people. This day is an acknowledgment of all they will accomplish, respectively.

We believe guidance, leadership, and mentors will help light the path. Thus, we would like to call out all adults to take the opportunity to welcome a young person into your life and bring positive impacts to them. They could be your kids, your students, your younger siblings or relatives, interns in your workplace, etc.

Here are some things that we could do to inspire and encourage youths around us.

Accept Their Mistakes

Many times, you would discover that their mistakes will be similar to ones you’ve made yourself. Instead of blaming or scolding them, let’s offer encouragement that these mistakes are merely lessons. Let them know they will only need to learn from mistakes and gain experiences to attain their goals.

Acknowledge Their Problems

The transition from childhood to adulthood is never easy. This period is a complicated time where the young adults would need to deal with many stresses, challenges, and confusions. Let’s listen to their fears and problems, share how you would defeat these problems but at the same time leave it to them to handle the problems in their own ways.

Celebrate Effort

Praising youths for their accomplishments is great, but it’s also important to let them know you’re proud of their efforts regardless of the outcome. It takes hard work to develop new skills, and results aren’t always immediate. Let them know you value the work they’re doing!

Let’s be a supportive adult for the youths around you. Share your wisdom and listen to their fears. Celebrate their successes and help them to learn from their defeats, respectively.
