For the past few months, we’ve missed some celebrations due to lockdowns. Therefore, many of us are excited to celebrate the upcoming Hari Raya Aidiladha. Many people are rushing back to kampung to reunite with family in conjunction with the holiday.

However, to avoid Covid-19 infections from re-emerging, some new standard operating procedures (SOPs) have been enforced. For example, only up to 20 people would be allowed to be in a house at one particular time.

Besides, those who were still under home quarantine are not allowed to leave the house, including for balik kampung or for the Aidiladha prayers. They are also not allowed to receive guests during the quarantine. According to the government, police will be on the ground to monitor public compliance.

For korban, the government had decided to limit the number of animals to a maximum of 10 at mosques, surau as well as other designated locations. The number of people allowed during korban is 20 per animal. Moreover, feasts are not allowed at korban sites. Alternatively, packed food can be distributed to those on duty.

For public health and safety, we have no choice but to cooperate with all the SOPs and MOH’s guidelines at all times. Although there are many limitations, we should be grateful for being able to finally reunite with family. Let’s cherish the joyous moment of celebrating the blessed Hari Raya Aidiladha with your loved ones.

For those who are unable to travel back to their hometown this time, let’s utilise technologies to virtually celebrate the festival together with your family.

Let’s practice social distancing to ensure a worry-free and happy Hari Raya Aidiladha. May all our struggles and sacrifices be rewarded with Allah’s blessings.
